Childhood and Family:
“I’m an artist. I’m very artistic and it’s great to have that. I have a lot drawings and paintings up in my apartment.” Chace Crawford
In Lubbock, Texas, Christopher Chace Crawford was born on July 18, 1985, to Chris and Dana (Plott) Crawford, a dermatologist and a teacher. He has one sibling, a younger sister named Candice, who is studying broadcast journalism at the University of Missouri-Columbia. She was also Miss Missouri USA 2008.
For four years as a child, Chace lived in Bloomington, Minnesota, and attended Ridgeview Elementary. He played football and golf throughout high school and is a talented artist. He was also voted “Best Dressed” during his senior year of High School.
In 2003, Chace graduated from Trinity Christian Academy. He moved to Malibu, California, to study broadcast journalism at Pepperdine University, where he was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity.
Currently filming “Gossip Girl,” Chace lives with co-star Ed Westwick in the Chelsea neighborhood in New York City. As of 2008, he resides in both New York and Los Angeles. Whenever free, he loves to read and work out. He also enjoys listening to old school hip-hop, Sublime, Nirvana and old rock.
“I'm into a lot of music. I used to dabble in electric guitar, but not in a band or anything. I like to play golf. I love sports, American football, basketball, and to eat! And play pool.” Chace Crawford

"Doubt your doubts before you doubt your beliefs." Chace Crawford
Originally dreaming of becoming a top gun in the Air Force, Chace Crawford entered show business as a model in his hometown of Dallas and never thought that he would be an actor although his mother encouraged him to be an actor midway through his second year in school. While attending Pepperdine University, he thought of following in his father's footsteps by becoming a doctor, but finally decided to move towards acting. Before breaking into acting, Chace was a valet.
When Chace decided to be an actor, he was signed by the first talent agent that interviewed him and subsequently committed full-time to acting studies.
“I take it a day at a time. I feel like if I think about it too much, it puts pressure or expectation on what I do and that's something I don't need.” Chace Crawford (on acting)
In 2006, Chace made his first onscreen appearance in Lifetime's mystery television movie “Long Lost Son,” playing the long lost son of Gabrielle Anwar's character. Also that year, he made his film debut in director Renny Harlin's supernatural thriller "The Covenant," alongside Steven Strait, Taylor Kitsch, Sebastian Stan, and Toby Hemingway. About his character in "The Covenant," Chace said, “I play Tyler and he's kind of the youngest one. He's a junior in high school and he looks up to Reid. He's kinda the rookie guy that just wants to use the power and be along for the joyride. It's a fun character, just kind of happy go lucky.”
The following year proved to be Chace's breakout year when he landed his most popular role to date, that of Nate Archibald, the good-looking rich lacrosse player at the elite St. Jude's School for Boys, on the hit CW show inspired by the popular novel series written by Cecily von Ziegesar, "Gossip Girl." He has played the character since it first aired on September 19, 2007, and will stay on the show in its third season, which is expected to air in the fall of 2009. His performance in the show earned him a Choice TV Actor Drama nomination at the Teen Choice Awards and won him a Choice TV Breakout Star Male at the same awards ceremony.
About watching the "Gossip Girl" pilot for the first time, Chace revealed, “When we all sat down and watched it I was like 'It's a great pilot.' I was really impressed with the look, the music, unbelievable and there's no weak links on anything from the acting to the directing, the lighting. It all came together very nicely.”
And when asked if “Gossip Girl” is a bad influence on viewers, he responded, “They're not stupid and it's not like we're making an instruction manual telling them how to drink and do drugs or have sex. We're just laying out how it is.”
He also talked about the "Gossip Girl" novels, “I actually thought I owed it to the fans to read them. I got halfway through the first one and realized we can do something else, take it where we want it to go and I feel like the show is going to be able to stand on its own. We know the gist of our characters and know how it's supposed to be. I feel personally it kind of gets in my head if I read all 12 (books), or whatever there are.”
While working on "Gossip Girl," Chace also provided his voice to an episode of Fox’s animated sitcom created by Seth MacFarlane, "Family Guy," and MacFarlane's animated cartoon web series "Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy." He was also cast in the 2008 films "Loaded," a thriller in which he co-stars with Jesse Metcalfe and Monica Keena, and "The Haunting of Molly Hartley," a horror film in which he stars opposite Haley Bennett.
“It was a very surreal experience for me, to be honest.” Chace Crawford (when talking about being on the big screen)
Chace is currently doing a public service announcement for Do Something's Teens for Jeans campaign. As for his upcoming film project, it is rumored he will co-star with Mischa Barton in Jessica Goldberg's new drama film called "Upstate."
