SummaryThe Third And Called Worst In The Trilogy?
Content
This by far, isn't the same as the previous Beverly Hills Cop movies. With a new director, the loss of John Ashton's character, and a seven year time gap after part II was released. Seriously though... do you honestly think Beverly Hills Cop III, was a worser sequel in 1994 than other stuff like City Slickers 2(Billy Crystal), D2 The Mighty Ducks(Emilio Estevez), Major League 2(Charlie Sheen), and The Naked Gun 33 1/3(Leslie Neilson)? If anything Beverly Hills Cop 3 is just as good, or actually better with its action genre.
Eddie Murphy... this was Murphy's last classic comedy role, before doing movies we know him in today. Where his comedy is a lot different, to name a few Vampire in Brooklyn, The Nutty Professor, and Metro. These were his next three films, and you can obviously see the action in his career disappear.
Judge Reinhold... if he didn't return for this sequel either as Billy Rosewood, Beverly Hills Cop III would've never been as successful as it was. He once again brings a great character back to life, finishing off his career and the role he started ten years earlier.
Bronson Pinchot... even if he only did have a short ten minute part. He definitely gave this movie a lot of life with his comedy and returning improved character, Serge. Best known for his other movies Second Sight(John Larroquette), and True Romance(Chirstian Slater).
John Landis... I think is one of the best directors in all of the 80's. Doing movies such as Animal House, The Blues Brothers, An American Werewolf in London, Trading Places, Three Amigos!, Coming To America, and Innocent Blood. So as you can see Landis had his job cut out for him. Which I think he did successfully.
All in all... Beverly Hills Cop III, is definitely not the movie it used to be. It's not the greatest sequel with villians played by actors you don't even know. However... this really was a great little action flick. The whole theme park set, pretty much blown up and shot up entirely in the end... was extremely fun to watch. I thought Eddie Murphy was giving a good introduction to all of his new wacky comedy to come. For example, when he dresses up as one of the theme park entertainers. If you want a very funny, yet serious action movie... I really suggest that Beverly Hills Cop III is the movie to watch. I would buy the box set for ten bucks more though, that's a steal of a price!

SummaryBAD
Content
Beverly Hills Cop III is the last installment in an awesome trilogy where nonstop laughter and action occurs. The first 2 are classics and the original is especially a definite must see.
But, this one isn't at all as good as the first two. But....
THe movie is fairly descent with some ok action and funny moments but there aren't enough funny moments and the action is cheesy. Plus the whole movie basically takes place in a theme park. Yeah, a place like Disneyland called Wonderworld. So, I was sitting down, listening to some stupid theme song go off every second. I was about to rip my hair out. I mean, it was annoying. Also, R rated movies shouldn't take place in a theme park! It just seemed too babyish. On top of it, it's just such a dissapointment to me because the first 2 were classic and this one was a horrible end to the trilogy. If you watch this without watching the first 2, you'll like it better than me. And for those of you giving it 4 or 5 stars, come on! THe Wonderworld setting alone screwed it over!
Watch the first 2 and act like this doesn't even exist because even though it isn't the worst movie ever, it is a horrid end to the trilogy and an affront to the first two.

SummaryNot bad, but doesn't live up to the other two movies
Content
BHC 3 is a pretty good movie, it's just that this movie doesn't fit how the others were made. First, the movie is about Axel Foley back to Beverly Hills to investigate the murder of his boss Inspector Todd. Its ends up making him go to an amusement park Wonderworld (Paramounts Great America) to find the killers. When I watched it for the first time, I thought it was decent. The stunts like the jumping around the ferris wheel were cool. I like how the fact they used rides at parks that are popular to do with the scenes like the rendition of the Earthquake ride at the Universal Studios and the Kindom of the Dinosaurs at Knotts Berry Farm. Rosewood is back, but that's it.

Some of the things that made this movie disappointing was the use of an amusement park for a R rated film. Most likely if amusement parks are associated, it would be a family film. This type of setting does not appeal to the fans of previous BHC's. the plot was mediocre, not any real good suspense. The annoying aspect was the stupid music in the background of Wonder World, if music were to play at a real theme park everyone would be very mad.

Plus the most important of all, the absence of Taggart (John Aston) and Bogomil (Ronny Cox). I think Part 2 was the best because Taggart and Rosewood teamed up with Foley to solve the cases. Thats what made the series great. The chemistry of the laughs and adventures were what made the previous films funny. This film is so-so on the comedy. Axel Floey however doesn't do the funny ab-lib like in the other ones.

This is a great film to add to your collection of BHC movies, but it may not be your favorite, due to absences in characters.

SummaryNot to be Underestimated
Content
Beverly Hills Cop III is a film not to be underestimated, despite rapid disapprovals to its theme park setting. I must admit that I had not seen the first two movies prior to seeing this one, and I really enjoyed it overall, including the park setting. The acting is well executed, the plot is understandable, the action sequences are decent, and often there are many hilarious moments. I recommend this movie if you enjoy an action-packed movie with laughs to go around.

SummaryNot as bad as I remembered.

I saw "Beverly Hills Cop III" in the theater and thought it sucked. In fact, I had such a low opinion of the movie that it took me all of 10 years just to sit down and try to watch it again. In all fairness, I can't say that it's a bad movie, just a misfire that fails to reach the insanely high expectations of the first 2 movies in the series. That's no worse than can be said for most other sequels ( for evidence, see: "American Wedding", "The Matrix Revolutions", "A Better Tomorrow III").
Personally, I think what was lacking in this movie, aside from John Ashton's perpetually grumpy Sgt. Taggart, was Harold Faltermeyer's driving synthesizer score. At the point in time this movie was made... ok, sure, synthesizer music had pretty much gone the way of the dodo. However, I think if Faltermeyer had been given a shot at coming up with something new, maybe some of the fun feeling that is so prevalent in the first two BHC movies would have trickled down into this one, at least musically speaking.
