The Girls Next Door
“People assume because I'm Hef's girlfriend that I'm a Bunny and I'm a Playmate and I'm a Centerfold, but they're different things. If you're a Playmate or a Centerfold, which is the same thing, you pose for the magazine. You are one particular month and not every Playmate is a Bunny. A Bunny is a girl who used to work at the Playboy Club. She had the Bunny costume and now that we don't have Playboy Clubs, it's just Playmates who work special promotions and are fitted for a Bunny costume.” Holly Madison
Playboy Bunny Holly Madison, Hugh Hefner’s former No. 1 girlfriend, is widely known for her role on the E! reality show "The Girls Next Door" (2005-Present). She has also appeared on the covers of the November 2005, the September 2006, and the March 2008 issues of Playboy Magazine and became a Playboy photo editor and co-authored a book with Hefner’s other girlfriends, Bridget Marquardt and Kendra Wilkinson.
The former Hawaiian Tropic model was also cast in the films “Scary Movie 4” (2006) and “House Bunny” (2008). Next, she will costar with Bridget Marquardt in the upcoming horror anthology film "The Telling."
Madison has guest starred on MTV's "Cribs," "The Bernie Mac Show," "Entourage," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," and "General Hospital." She recently competed in season eight of ABC's “Dancing With the Stars.”
This 5' 7" brown-eyed sexy lady with 36D-23-36 measurements is ranked #10 in the "100 Hottest Blondes of AIM." After her relationship with Hefner ended in 2008, she dated illusionist Criss Angel. They broke up in February 2009.
Childhood and Family:
Born in Astoria, Oregon, on December 23, 1979, Holly Cullen moved with her parents to the sparsely populated Prince of Wales Island in Alaska shortly after her birth. Her father, who worked in the timber industry, moved the family again when she was 11 years old (to St. Helens, Oregon).
"I look back on my middle/high school days and see an Alaskan fish out of water who wasn't good at socializing or fitting in." Holly Madison
The oldest of three siblings studied theater and psychology at the Portland State University. Two years later, in 1999, she began to pursue her dreams to Los Angeles and transferred her college studies to Loyola Marymount University. She also studied real estate investment at UCLA Extension and business at Santa Monica College.
Madison, who hates exercise, counts her calories to stay in shape. She also took swing dance lessons and loves to listen to Frank Sinatra while relaxing in her room.
A self-described animal lover, Madison, who has four dogs, started writing articles about pets in 2006 for a friend's quarterly magazine, “The Coolest Little Pet Magazine.” She was featured nude in a PETA ad in April 2007.
"I love Holly very much and I think we’re going to be together the rest of my life, but marriage isn’t part of my puzzle. It’s not a personal thing. I just haven’t had much luck with marriages." Hugh Hefner
From 2001 to 2008, Madison was the main girlfriend of Playboy magazine founder Hugh Hefner (born on April 9, 1926). During that time, she lived with him in the Playboy Mansion with his other girlfriends, Bridget Marquardt and Kendra Wilkinson.
“In five years I'd still love to be here with Hef and my dogs and hopefully I'll have my degree by that time and still having fun.” Holly Madison
After breaking up with Hefner in October 2008, Madison began dating illusionist Criss Angel (born on December 19, 1967), but the relationship ended in February 2009. Later, in a March 2009 interview, Madison said, "I'm never dating anybody again. I don't need a man. I'm really happy with myself and being with my friends. I'm focused on forwarding my career. I'm working on producing my own shows. ‘Girls Next Door’ was a great place to start but it was somebody else's show. I'm just ready to move on."
Moving to Los Angeles in 1999, Holly Madison worked as a roller skating waitress at Hooters in Santa Monica and competed to become a Hawaiian Tropic model in order to pay for her studies at Loyola Marymount University. She was spotted by one of Hugh Hefner's friends at Hawaiian Tropic and was immediately put on a Playboy Mansion party list.
She recalled about the Midsummer Night's Dream party, "I attended with a few of my girlfriends from Hooters. We explored the place (which looked amazing!) and saw lots of celebrities and centerfolds. I was most excited to meet Hef, Seth Green from the 'Austin Powers' movies and Heather Kozar, one of my favorite Playmates."
Madison subsequently frequented Mansion events and finally had the chance to sit down with Hefner a year later in 2001. He invited her out with him on a Wednesday and she moved into the Playboy Mansion that Friday, becoming one of Hugh Hefner's seven official girlfriends.
"We love to do the same things. We love to watch the same old movies and go out to the same places and hang out with the same people and it was just a great match." Holly Madison
Not long after, in 2002, Madison became Hefner's No. 1 girlfriend and moved into his bedroom at the mansion, where Hefner's other girlfriends, Bridget Marquardt and Kendra Wilkinson, also lived.
When asked where she sees herself in five years' time, Madison said, "I see myself alone with Hef. Not that I don't necessarily want other people around. I'm a people person, so having Bridget and Kendra living here is great. But do I like him having other girlfriends? No. I know that I'm his number one girl, but I think he needs to get rid of the extra girls."
Meanwhile, Madison made her first TV appearance in MTV's reality show “Cribs” in October 2002 and followed it up with an appearance in the Nelly and Justin Timberlake video “Work It” in 2003. She also played a Bunny in an April 2004 episode of FOX’s sitcom “The Bernie Mac Show.”
“I know Hef doesn't like it when I walk around naked in the house 'cause he's a little more old-fashioned, sometimes, than people think. But you tend to forget you're naked when you've been shooting naked all day.” Holly Madison
In August 2005, Madison began starring on the E! reality show, “The Girls Next Door,” with Hefner's girlfriends Bridget Marquardt and Kendra Wilkinson. About being on the show, Madison commented, "Sometimes it's a pain in the butt to have cameras following me 24/7 but the show has led to opportunities I have only dreamed of."
“The Girls Next Door” is currently in its fifth season, which started on October 5, 2008. Madison has been committed to do the sixth season although she had broken up with Hefner. Madison recently said, "Nobody knows how it's going to work post-breakup."
During her “The Girls Next Door” stint, Madison appeared on the cover and inside of the November 2005 issue of Playboy Magazine along with Marquardt and Wilkinson as part of a special promoting “The Girls Next Door.” The girls would later be featured again on the covers of the September 2006 and the March 2008 issues of Playboy.
Meanwhile, Madison also guest starred in a June 2005 episode of HBO's original series “Entourage” and in a November 2005 episode of HBO's sitcom “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” In 2006, she worked as a photo editor for Playboy Magazine and helped design and put together “The Girls Next Door” 2008 calendar. She also made her first film appearance in the comedy “Scary Movie 4” (2006), starring Anna Faris, Regina Hall, and Carmen Electra. On the small screen, Madison was spotted as a guest in a 2007 episode of the ABC soap opera "General Hospital" and a 2008 episode of A&E Network's reality show "Criss Angel Mindfreak." She also returned to the big screen and was featured in the comedy film, “The House Bunny” (2008).
Madison has completed filming her upcoming flick, "The Telling," a horror anthology film directed by Nicholas Carpenter and Casey Ward in which she stars opposite “The Girls Next Door” costar Bridget Marquardt.
More recently, in early 2009, Madison replaced singer Jewel Kilcher as a contestant on the ABC reality series “Dancing with the Stars.” Partnered with professional dancer Dmitry Chaplin, Madison became the third contestant eliminated from the show. She was voted off alongside Apple Inc. Co-Founder Steve Wozniak on the March 31, 2009, episode, the show's first midseason double elimination.
Madison, who studied real estate investment at UCLA Extension and business at Santa Monica College, recently released a line of fragrance products which includes bath and body lotions, scented candles and her signature fragrance. She also has an online skater socks shop that sells the socks she uses in the series.
