Preteen actor Ian Hyland was first noticed while playing the role of Georgie, the young son of Adam Sandler and Téa Leoni's characters in James L. Brooks' Golden Globe-nominated drama comedy film Spanglish (2004). He will soon be seen in the upcoming films The Ex, with Zach Braff, Jason Bateman and Amanda Peet; and Favorite Son, alongside Pablo Schreiber. On February 1, 1995, Ian Donovan Hyland was born in New York City, New York. His father is Edward James Hyland and his older sister is Sarah Hyland.
In 2004, Ian Hyland entered the big screen in writer-director James L. Brooks' Golden Globe-nominated drama comedy film Spanglish (also featuring Paz Vega and Cloris Leachman). Portraying Adam Sandler and Téa Leoni's young son Georgie, Hyland received a nomination for Best Performance in a Feature Film - Young Actor Age Ten or Younger from the Young Artist Awards.
In late 2006, Hyland completed The Ex, a comedy movie by director Jesse Peretz. The film, starring Zach Braff, Jason Bateman and Amanda Peet, is scheduled for a May 11, 2007 release. He also just wrapped Howard Libov's family-drama film Favorite Son, a remake of the 1999 film Little Man. In the film, he shared the screen with Pablo Schreiber, Connor Paolo and Kellie Overbey.
On the small screen, Hyland could be seen on MTV's half-hour show of edgy short films, "Human Giant," alongside writer/performers Aziz Ansari, Rob Huebel, Paul Scheer, and writer/director Jason Woliner. Hyland has also appeared in a TV commercial for Dimetapp cold medicine.
