Background:
Kari Whitman is an American model and actress. She is perhaps most
known for becoming Playboy Playmate of the Month February 1988. She has
appeared in many TV shows such as “Married with Children,”
“Baywatch,” “Renegade,” Silk Stalkings,”
“Murder, She Wrote,” “NYPD Blue,” “Nash
Bridges” and “The X-Files” and in the films
“Beverly Hills Cop II” (1987) and “Men at Work”
(1990).
Whitman is a steadfast animal rights supporter. In 2004, the brunette
actress protested the Annual Hot Dog Lunch on Capitol Hill.Representing
PETA, and wearing plastic lettuce-leaf bikinis, she and fellow Playboy
Playmate Lauren Anderson (Miss July 2002) sold vegetable hot dogs to
members of Congress outside the Rayburn Office Building in Washington
D.C. The 2004 Hot Dog Lunch, which was sponsored by the American
Meat Institute and the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council, was
located in the courtyard inside the building. The annual luncheon is a
celebration of “National Hot Dog Month.”

Career:
Kari Whitman made her first television appearance in “Charley
Hannah” (1986), a ABC crime/drama TV movie starring Robert
Conrad, Shane Conrad and Christian Conrad. In the following year, she
hit the big screen with a bit performance, as Playboy model, in the
action/comedy sequel “Beverly Hills Cop II,” which starred
Eddie Murphy and directed by Tony Scott. She played the role of
Jennifer in “Masterblaster,” a 1987 action/thriller
starring Jeff Moldovan, Donna Rosea and Joe Hess.
Credited as Kari Kennell, Whitman was chosen as Playboy's Playmate of
the Month in February, 1988, succeeding Kimberley Conrad. She continued
to pursue acting with roles on the feature films “Phantom of the
Mall: Eric's Revenge” (1989, starred Derek Rydall, Jonathan
Goldsmith and Rob Estes) and “Men at Work” (1990, starred
Charlie Sheen, Emilio Estevez (also directed and wrote the film) and
Leslie Hope) as well as the made for TV films “Camp
Cucamonga” (1990) and “ Deadly Medicine” (1991) and
guest spots in television series like “Married with
Children” (1989, as Muffy), “They Came from Outer
Space” (1990, as Lacey) and “Silk Stalkings” (1992,
as Tracy Lynn/Toller).
In 1993, Whitman appeared in “Baywatch” in episode
“Island of Romance” as Melinda. The year also found her
making guest appearances in “Dangerous Curves” as Jannis
Starke, in “Renegade” as Casey and in two episodes of
“In Living Color.” Besides, she played the role of Suzanne
Morrison in the drama/thriller movie “Chained Heat II”
(1993), which starred Brigitte Nielsen, Paul Koslo and Kimberley Kates,
and was cast as Heather in “Forced to Kill” (1994), an
action/thriller movie directed by Russell Solberg and written by Corey
Michael Eubanks, who also starred in the film, opposite Michael
Ironside and Rance Howard.
Throughout the remainder of the 1990s, Whitman could be seen making
guest appearances in television series such as “The Great
Defender” (1995, as Melanie), “Charlie Grace” (1995,
as Adele), “Murder, She Wrote” (1995, as Marge Deaver),
“Mr. & Mrs. Smith” (1996, as Haley Rodgers Johnson),
“NYPD Blue” (1998, as Nadine) and “Nash
Bridges” (1998, as Sydney Greer). She also portrayed Candace in
the PC CD-ROM “Voyeur II” (1996) and appeared in the UK
drama film “Something to Believe In” (1998) with William
McNamara, Maria Pitillo and Tom Conti.
In 2002, Whitman returned to television when she landed a guest
starring role on “The X-Files,” playing Roxanne in the
episode “Hellbound.”
In 2004, Whitman, who operates Kari Whitman Interiors, a full service
design firm specializing in residential and commercial projects in West
Hollywood, CA, appeared in the reality TV show “Dude Room”
as designer. Two years later, she was given her own reality television
show on the WE (Women's Entertainment) Television Network called
“Designer To The Stars: Kari Whitman.” The show, featuring
Whitman redesigning rooms within celebrity homes, aired in March
2007.
