Background:

Best known as the father of actress/singer Lindsay Lohan, Michael Lohan and his estranged daughter has publicly conflicted for years. More recently, he became angry with Lohan's relationship with British DJ Samantha Ronson. Reportedly, due to his anger, Lohan is seeking legal protection from her father.

The business heir has volunteered with the Long Island Teen Challenge rehabilitation program. He has also tried his hand in producing and acting.

Marrying Dina Lohan from 1985 to 2007, Lohan was closely linked to Kristi Kaufmann, a Montana massage therapist, in 1995 while he and Dina were estranged. Claimed to be the father of Kaufmann's daughter, Ashley, Lohan submitted a DNA sample for a paternity test on June 30, 2008.

Childhood and Family:

Michael Douglas Lohan was born on April 25, 1960, to businessman Richard Lohan. His father, who had colon cancer, passed away on August 28, 2008 at age 73. Michael inherited a multi-millionaire dollar pasta enterprise from his father.

At age 25, Michael was married to New Yorker Donata “Dina” Sullivan (born on September 15, 1962). He became a father a year later with the birth of Lindsay Lohan on July 2, 1986. He next welcomed Michael Douglas Lohan Jr. on December 16, 1987 and Ali Lohan on December 22, 1993. His forth child, Dakota “Cody” Lohan was born in 1997.

After having been together for over two decades, Michael and his wife divorced in 2007.

Career:

Michael Lohan once worked as a trader on Wall Street before inheriting his father's pasta business. He has helped build up the company to its success.

In the late 1980s, Lohan was sentenced to four years in jail. Nearly 15 years later, in 2005, he was sent back to prison for “aggravated unlicensed driving” and attempted attack. Upon his release in March 2007, Lohan began his work with the Long Island Teen Challenge rehabilitation program, for which he serves as a minister and counselor.

In 2008, Lohan appeared in the horror movie “The Deed to Hell,” as interviewed celebrity. The low-budget project was directed and written by and starred Glenn Andreiev. The same year, he also completed filming a TV film called “Wanna Be Me!.” Dan Neira directed the comedy.

Lohan is the executive producer of the upcoming drama “Touched” (2009), again helmed by Dan Neira. The film will star Shalim Ortiz, Jackie Watson, Sevy Di Cione, Aloma Wright, Sam Littlefield and others.
