This 1993 release with Mike Myers and Nancy Travis is a laugh out loud, right off your chair, comedy highlighting Mr. Myers add libb antics pioneered on Saturday Night Live. It tells the story of a single Scottish American looking for love despite a growing list of failed relationships. Mike Myers not only plays the lead character, Charlie, but also portrays Charlie's father a outspoken Scottish immigrant that in his spare time dusts his personal Scottish hall of fame portraits while wearing only hosery with the Bay City Rollers at full blast. Hysterical, if for no other reason the role of Charlies father is reason enough to pick up the film at its more than economic price. In all seriousness the film gives hope to the jaded romantic by contrasting the still blooming relationship of Charlies parents with the new friendship between Charlie and Nancy Travis. The shocker is that where Wayne's World and Austin Powers, more recently, have met with amazing sucess in theatre sales So I Married a Ax Murderer met with little fanfare. This to me is a great tradgedy as I and my sister think this film to be one of Mike Myers best performances, save Saturday Night Live ofcourse. Pick it up you'll watch it again and again.

One year after "Wayne's World" and 3 years before "Austin Powers" Mike Myers made this pleasant movie. It's funny without being in your face like the "Austin Powers" series, it has some sort of broad appeal unlike "Wayne's World" which I personally liked but not everybody would have appreciated. You actually can see some embryonic "Austin Powers" style characters in it. Does anybody in it remind you of "Shrek" at all? Think carefully. MM plays Charlie,a neurotic but likable young comedian/poet. He also plays his hilarious father,a way over the top stereotypical scotsman. If I was scottish I wouldn't really know how to take him. But MM is of Scottish descent, so he's entitled to poke fun at himself. The movie is funny, exciting, the plot moves well and keeps you there until the end,and the choice of "There She Goes" (2 Different versions) was an excellent choice of theme song. Lets see more of this sort of thing Mike!

So I Married an Axe Murderer is a funny comedy movie starring Mike Myers playing a guy who gets married and then begins to worry that his wife may be an infamous axe murderer. The movie isn't as funny as the Austen Powers movies or the Wayne's World movies but it is still pretty funny and a good movie.

Although, the dvd did actually work. It looked like hell in a hand basket! It still had the stickers from the public library from which it was bought for a nickle! the disc itself looked like it had spent an hour in disk doctor tool. It was sanded beyond belief. Again, it did work which the most important thing. I just felt ripped off ten dollars (price plus shipping).

This is the best movie ever made. Charlie's dad is the most hilarious and well written character in recent memory. You have to watch it several times to get all of the jokes. After that it keeps getting better and better. I'm pretty sure that my sister and I know every word by heart.
