SummaryThe Movie Could've Been Better, But The DVD Is Great
Content
When I first saw this prequel in the theatres, I loved it. Then after more viewings, I am saddened to realize how this movie is merely good. I'm pretty sure everybody knows the plot, so I won't take up time going over that.

Okay, I'll address the acting. I'm not convinced that Hayden Christiansen, and other actors, are to blame. The written dialogue and lines are the problem. The ideas that the lines are trying to convey are good, but the choice-of-words is way too corny. Christiansen has given good performances in "Life As A House" and "Shattered Glass," so I even more don't buy that it's all his fault.

As far as the plot goes, it does feel too underdeveloped in some areas. Anakin Skywalker still doesn't seem like he's on the path to the Dark Side, but instead just a little angry and confused. He does not show signs of evil and wrath in his blood, but maybe I expect too much. Jango Fett is sadly underused, and closes things off with a cheap shot of Boba Fett's foreshadowing (you'll cringe when you see it). Count Dooku, to me, is the real puzzle. You see, the trailers and advertising and action figures really give away that he's a villain. But if you watch the movie closely, I think that his true identity was supposed to be a riddle that would only be solved in the last scene in which we see him. I really wish this plot point wasn't revealed. I realize that "Star Wars" is famous for colorful side-characters (Jabba The Hutt or General Grievous), but Jango Fett and Dooku are short-handed here.

The visual and sound effects of "Attack of the Clones" are magnificent. They're crisp, captivating, and still have some originality to them ("Star Wars" always manages to pull that off). There are some awkward spots here and there. It's really only some scenes involving the Jedi. Sometimes they jump a little fast and move like grasshoppers. But every location, ship, and background animation is superb.

The action sequences are absolutely stunning. The opening chase through Coruscant is breath-taking with vehicular insanity and near-falls among the skies. The rainy battle between Jango Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi is also very cool. The three-part finale sequence is equally impressive. For those who haven't seen this movie yet, I won't ruin the surprise. You won't be disappointed!

The ideas are sound, the writing is bad, the acting suffers because of it, and the plot is a little jumpy. But the strength of "Star Wars" has always been the spectacle and action sequences. Yes, a great story always helps, but Lucas' vision is still very strong, if somewhat misplaced.

The movie merits a 3-star rating, but a 5-star DVD balances things out.

As in "Episode I - The Phantom Menace", the features will give you a better appreciation for the hard work and complications that come along with making these movies. The animations feature is excellent, as is the 12-part series that's composed of Internet short feautrettes ("Episode III" has 15...can't wait!). "Star Wars" is the pinnacle of DVD presentation, because not one Extra disappoints. The cool-but-unimportant Posters, to the TV Spots, to the music video...it's all fantastic and worth buying this DVD just for these Special Features alone! Yes, the first two prequels are a little disappointing, but they're still good movies. "Revenge of the Sith" and the original Trilogy are excellent movies, plus they have (or will have) superb DVDs. Regardless of your opinions on the two prequels' quality, they are part of the "Star Wars" Saga, and were given top-notch treatment.

SummaryIt's ok to hate this movie, diehard fans of Star Wars!!!
Content
This movie is a complete and utter failure, and for some reason the diehard fans of this ridiculous series can't see it. The dialogue between actors is non-existant. The CGI effects are carbon copies of the last abomination, The Phantom Menace. Its terribly written, directed, and edited. George Lucas is one of the most over-rated filmakers of our time. The originals were great for their time but still lacked character development and likeliness. I have to say that I've hated Star Wars since forever and it still continues to dissapoint. Yet for some reason the diehard fans bought it, and its because they feel they have to like it because its.....STAR WARS. Get over that fact and actually try to love the movie on it's own merrits. It's a terrible movie and so are all the others. All these new creatures and boring clones have all the appeal of a brown paper bag. Even Darth Vader was under-developed and no doubt they will try to develop him later in the series but it is far to late to consolidate this train wreck. George Lucas is an amatuer at best, and the credit should go to his effects team, if you can find any credible part of this monstroscity.

SummaryA step up from Episode I...
Content
This movie was better than its predecessor, but it again had a different twist to it. They spent too much time on Anakin and Padme, we got the theme after the first five minutes. But this movie has more action than Episode I, therefore the title "Attack of the Clones". My favorite scene was the Obi Wan-Jango Fett battle on Kamino. That was an exciting scene. And Yoda going crazy on Count Dooku was another great scene. Overall better than Episode I, again, any Star Wars fan should pick this up and add it to their collection.

SummaryStar Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Abomination
Content
This is without a doubt the worst film in the series. The title?! Attack of the Clones? That's ridiculous. Its called the Clone Wars for a reason. Then is just gets even worse. Where to begin? The CG was even more rampant than the Phantom Menace, and here again, we have more really awkward dialogue, and just overall no Star Wars 'magic' that existed in the original trilogy.

Hayden Christensen is a terrible actor, before he is asked to recite terrible dialogue. Then he just gets even worse. All in all, he totally ruined this movie, and most of the third. He sounds like he wants to be angry, but is afraid of hurting our feelings, so instead he just says everything really slowly. Every word that comes from his mouth is so painfully awkward; gagariffic, in a sense.

I used to be a huge Star Wars fan. I wanted to like this film, I really did. But no, it was abysmal. Don't waste your time with this movie. You're just going to want the 2 hours or so of your life back afterwards.
