CAREY: 'I STRUGGLED WITH POOR SELF-ESTEEM'
MARIAH CAREY has learned to cover up her curves after years of dressing provocatively to boost her low self-confidence.

The singer was just entering her teen years when she learned that wearing skimpy outfits would win her compliments - and the revelation prompted her to flaunt more of her body as she got older and embarked on a career as a pop star.
But the Hero hitmaker admits that at 39 years old, she's finally learned how to dress to keep herself happy.
She tells Paper magazine, "I have had very low self-esteem my whole life. When I was 12 or 13, I remember walking up the driveway, and this guy who was 20 - which may have been highly inappropriate - said to me, 'I like your pants,' and I was like 'Oh, that looks good? Oh, OK, I will wear tight pants now."

The 56 year old admits he got carried away with surgery - and now desperately wishes he'd never listened to Jackson.
He says, "I had surgery when I was very young and it was the stupidest thing I've ever done. Michael Jackson kept saying, 'You should have plastic surgery.' I got my nose done and he said, 'Do more, do more!' It was stupid.
"If I had my way, I'd go back to my original big nose with a bit of a hook in it. It looked great."

BILLY JOEL's daughter has thanked fans for their support after she suffered an overdose and was hospitalised over the weekend (05Dec09).

Singer/songwriter Alexa Ray Joel reportedly called emergency services complaining of breathing difficulties after taking homeopathic medication Traumeel.
She was taken to St. Vincent's Hospital in New York City, where her mother, model Christie Brinkley, rushed to her bedside.
Joel is now said to be recovering at home with her father.
A statement from her publicist reads, "She is feeling much better. She is with her family and looking forward to getting back on track."
And Joel adds, "I want to thank everyone for their outpouring of love and support."
Fans bombarded her MySpace.com page with messages of support.
Joel has scrapped a planned holiday performance at the New York Stock Exchange on Thursday (10Dec09) as she continues to recover from her scare.

The music mogul admits his cruel criticisms have upset several people who've auditioned on his TV talent shows, including American Idol, and he thinks it's only a matter of time before one of the disgruntled contestants exacts revenge on him.
And Cowell insists he had been thinking about recruiting more personnel to protect him when he heard news that a man had attacked the Bleeding Love hitmaker at a book-signing.
He tells GQ magazine, "We've all been lucky, with what we do. I've never been punched. But it's going to happen. I'm more likely to get punched than anyone."
Cowell's ex-girlfriend, Terri Seymour, was attacked in Los Angeles in May (09) when a woman wrapped her hands around the TV presenter's throat.
Janice Thibodeaux claimed she was motivated by footage of Cowell pretending to throttle his fellow American Idol judge Paula Abdul on the hit reality show, adding that she wanted to confront Seymour about her ex's behaviour.

HUGH GRANT fears his most embarrassing golfing blunder will be aired on TV the next time he upsets network bosses.
The avid golfer reveals TV pundits covering the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at St. Andrews in Scotland caught Grant's worst shot and opted not to show it - but he knows it's in their archives.
He recalls, "I lost a ball while putting, and on TV. I was putting uphill, and the ball rolled back down and into a stream.
"The TV fellows kindly didn't show it, but they recorded it."
And Grant admits his temper often gets the better of him on the golf course.
He tells Cigar Aficionado magazine, "There's a lot of club smashing. I once lost a three-wood in a tantrum when I threw it into a bush. Four players and caddies couldn't find it."

Lutz explains, "I've been gone so much doing press stuff for New Moon that we've been looking for a friend. Then two Chihuahuas were outside my house. My roommate named them Kevin and Trevor, just random names. Trevor got away, but Kevin, he's really cool."
The actor decided to make Kevin an official member of the family when the Chihuahua fell ill and he nearly lost the pooch to the highly contagious canine parvovirus, commonly known as Parvo, which affects the dog's digestive system.
He says, "We just had him checked out and I'm gonna adopt him. He's a sweetheart but we just found out he's been sick the last couple of days. He has Parvo, which is an extremely deadly disease if it's not treated quickly. So I was in Miami and I phoned my roommate and was like, 'We can't lose Kevin! He's family now.' So one of my friends took him to the emergency room and he's doing better now, so that's great."

Playgirl publicist Daniel Nardicio has confirmed the publication has received candid photos of an African-American male, but they have yet to determine if the disgraced golfer is the subject.
Nardicio tells Life & Style magazine, "We're currently trying to authenticate the photos before we make any decisions on purchasing the Tiger Woods pics and ascertaining the value."
Woods has become tabloid fodder in the past 10 days after crashing his car outside his Florida mansion and then confessing to "transgressions" following reports he had cheated on his wife, Elin, with a trio of women.
On Monday (07Dec09), it was revealed the Florida State Attorney's office was seeking further investigation into his crash on 27 November (09). The authorities allege Woods may have been under the influence of drink and/or drugs when he got behind the wheel of his SUV and drove it into a neighbour's tree.

Julie Powell is 30-years-old, living in a rundown apartment in Queens and working at a soul-sucking secretarial job that's going nowhere. She needs something to break the monotony of her life, and she invents a deranged assignment. She will take her mother's dog-eared copy of Julia Child's 1961 classic Mastering the Art of French Cooking, and she will cook all 524 recipes. In the span of one year.
At first she thinks it will be easy. But as she moves from the simple Potage Parmentier (potato soup) into the more complicated realm of aspics and crepes, she realizes there's more to Mastering the Art of French Cooking than meets the eye. With Julia's stern warble always in her ear, Julie haunts the local butcher, buying kidneys and sweetbreads. He made Dillinger America's first Public Enemy Number One and sent in Purvis, the dashing 'Clark Gable of the FBI.'
However, Dillinger and his gang outwitted and outgunned Purvis' men in wild chases and shootouts. Only after importing a crew of Western ex-lawmen (newly baptized as agents) and orchestrating epic betrayals from the infamous 'Lady in Red' to the Chicago crime boss Frank Nitti were Purvis, the FBI and their new crew of gunfighters able to close in on Dillinger.
WORLD'S GREATEST DAD
Cast: Daryl Sabara, Robin Williams, Alexie Gilmore, Henry Simmons, Michael Thomas Moore
Synopsis: Robin Williams stars as Lance Clayton, a man who has learned to settle. He dreamed of being a rich and famous writer, but has only managed to make it as a high school poetry teacher. His only son Kyle (Daryl Sabara) is an insufferable jackass who won’t give his father the time of day. He is dating Claire (Alexie Gilmore), the school’s adorable art teacher, but she doesn’t want to get serious -- or even acknowledge publicly that they are dating.
