SANDRA BULLOCK's husband JESSE JAMES has been hit with a breach of contract lawsuit by his former lawyer over unpaid fees. James, the owner of custom motorcycle firm West Coast Choppers, Inc. is accused of failing to pay $327,533 (GBP177,044) to law firm Keats McFarland + Wilson LLP, after hiring their services in 2001 to protect his intellectual property rights.
Lawyers represented James until April 2007, but he has allegedly yet to hand over the cash for his attorneys' work.
They have now resorted to legal action against James, and filed papers in Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday (05Sep08).
Bosses at Keats McFarland + Wilson are seeking return of the payment in addition to 10 per cent interest and costs, reports TMZ.com.
LATEST: Actor SHELLEY MALIL has had his bail for an attempted murder charge reduced from $10 million (GBP5.4 million) to $3 million (GBP1.62 million). The 43-year-old Virgin star stands accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend Kendra Beebe more than 20 times at her home in San Diego, California last month (10Aug08).
Lawyers for Beebe, who sustained serious injuries, including life-threatening stab wounds to the lungs and throat, claim their client almost bled to death after the vicious attack.
Malil, who has pleaded not guilty to the charge, was initially held behind bars on $2 million (GBP1.08 million) bail, but that was subsequently increased to $10 million.
However, a California judge brought the figure down to $3 million during a hearing on Friday (05Sep08).
Malil is next due in court on 3 October (08) for a status hearing.
He is also facing one count of personal use of a knife and inflicting great bodily injury, reports website nbcsandiego.com. The actor could be sentenced to life imprisonment if he is convicted of all charges.
JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE's best friend and business partner TRACE AYALA has split with his fiancee, actress JOANNA GARCIA. Ayala proposed to the Reba star in June (08), but broke off the engagement last month (Aug08), according to reports.
A source tells America's Life + Style magazine, "Trace was unbelievably upset about it."
MARILYN MANSON rocker JOHN 5 has been forced to scrap a string of guitar clinic shows after smashing his shoulder in a biking accident. The star was thrown from his mountain bike and has been left nursing a badly injured shoulder.
In a statement to fans, he says, "I am sorry to all that were coming for the performance, but I will make it up and announce new dates soon.”
A spokeswoman adds, "He is expected to heal and have a fast recovery with physical therapy to insure he does not lose his magic touch.“
Hollywood actor MORGAN FREEMAN has found love again, just one month after he announced he was divorcing his wife of 24 years. The first image of The Dark Knight star and his reported new beau, Mary Joyce Hays, surfaced in the media this week (ends05Sep08), showing Freeman hugging the blonde divorcee and smiling widely.
The 71-year-old's marital status came under scrutiny after he was involved in a serious car crash in Tennessee with passenger Demaris Meyer last month (Aug08).
The identity of his female friend prompted rumours his marriage to Myrna Colley-Lee was in trouble, and days later, his attorney confirmed the couple had split, although he denied allegations Freeman had been unfaithful to his wife.
But the star, who suffered a broken arm and shoulder in the car crash, appears to be recovering with the help of Hays, according to British tabloid the Daily Express.
Funnyman JACK BLACK took celebrities taking donation calls at Friday night's (05Sep08) Stand Up 2 Cancer telethon in America to task - by demanding they phone each other with pledges. The Tropic Thunder star admitted he has watched celebrity telethons as a cynic in the past - and he wanted to make sure this TV special would be a big winner.
He said, "You know that if one of those lucky so-and-so's donated two per cent of what they made, we could all go back to (TV show) Project Runway."
He then tackled actor Josh Brolin, who was in the middle of a pledge call and ordered him to put the phone down, yelling, "Hang up the freaking phone!"
Black then told Brolin to call comedienne Ellen DeGeneres, who was seated a few desks away from the movie star on the Kodak Theatre stage, adding, "Make a pledge. What did you make on the Coen Brothers (film - No Country For Old Men)?"
Black then turned to the cameras and assured the viewers watching the show, "I'm gonna make these gravy trainers pony up."
British model/actress KELLY BROOK has moved on from her broken engagement to actor BILLY ZANE - she's been spotted enjoying a string of dates with England rugby star DANNY CIPRIANI. The 28-year-old beauty called off her wedding to Titanic star Zane in April (08), after deciding she wasn't ready for marriage.
The couple reunited soon after but split for good this summer (08).
But Brook has now found happiness with Cipriani, 20, according to British newspaper The Sun.
A close pal of Brook says, "It's early days but the romance is definitely on. She's said how she likes Danny but is a bit worried he's eight years younger."
However, Brook appears to be keeping the new romance under wraps.
When questioned about her relationship status on U.K. chat show Friday Night With Jonathan Ross, she replied, "I'm single. I haven't had that many offers. I haven't been out all that much. I'm open to meeting someone but I'm enjoying being single."
MAMMA MIA's 2008 successes continued on Thursday night (04Sep08) as it became the 16th longest running show in Broadway history. As the production's movie adaptation continues to wow film fans around the world, the musical passed Hello Dolly to claim the 16th spot on the New York theatre hitlist.
The production opened at the Winter Garden Theatre almost seven years ago.
The musical has been seen by an estimated 32 million people around the world.
The Broadway theatre hosting HARRY POTTER star DANIEL RADCLIFFE's play EQUUS has been revamped to stop female fans of the young Brit from mobbing him onstage. Radcliffe strips completely nude in Equus, and theatre bosses feared he would be distracted by, and at risk from, fans in stage-level seats.
So Broadhurst Theater designer John Napier has raised those seats by more than two metres, creating a barrier between the audience and Radcliffe.
Napier explains, "If you put Harry Potter on the stage with people directly in front of him, you're likely to get a lot of screaming young girls, particularly when he takes his kit off. It was a very sensible decision for us to raise the audience up. There's more of a barrier."
Equus officially opens at the Broadhurst on 25 September (08). Previews began on Friday (05Sep08).
Radcliffe received rave reviews in London when he starred in the play on the West End last year (07).
Former DIRT star LAURA ALLEN has given birth to a baby boy. The actress and her model husband Bruce Weyman welcomed little Harper Edward Weyman into their family on Wednesday (03Sep08) night at a Los Angeles hospital.
The newborn weighed in at nine pounds, five ounces (4.22 kilograms), reports People.com.
A spokesperson for Allen says, "Mother, father and baby are doing well."
SUGABABES star AMELLE BERRABAH's elder sister has been sentenced to community service after pleading guilty to theft. Nurse Zakiya Berrabah, 35, confessed to stealing two store cards and some cash from patients at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford, south east England, where she worked.
She admitted to using the two cards from British department store House of Fraser to buy $6,440 (GBP3,481)-worth of clothes and other items.
Berrabah, who was facing jail on one count of theft and another of obtaining property by deception, appeared at Guildford Crown Court in south east England on Friday (05Sep08) for sentencing.
Judge Peter Moss told Berrabah: "One can hardly imagine a more serious version of stealing."
But she avoided jail and was handed community service for the crimes, after the court heard how she suffers from a "mental disorder".
OASIS star LIAM GALLAGHER has finally completed a tribute song to his idol JOHN LENNON - nine years after he started writing it. The Wonderwall rocker confesses the track I'm Outta Time has been in the works for almost a decade.
He says, "That took me f**king nine years to write. I only finished it last week."
But the final version has won him praise from his brother Noel
Gallagher, who admits he doesn't expect anything less than brilliance from any member of the band.
The guitarist tells website musicradar.com, "I like Liam's songs, I wasn't surprised (at I'm Outta Time's quality). He's expected to write great songs, he's in Oasis."
BRITNEY SPEARS' mother LYNNE has slammed the pop star's former 'manager' SAM LUTFI for taking advantage of the singer's naivety and targeting her like a "predator". The Toxic hitmaker suffered a mental and emotional breakdown at the start of the year (Jan08) after losing custody of her two sons by ex-husband Kevin Federline in late 2007.
Lutfi was a constant presence at the singer's side until he was served with a restraining order in February (08) and ordered to stay away from Spears and her family. The legal ruling came amid accusations by Lynne that he had drugged the star.
In her forthcoming book, Through The Storm - A Real Story of Fame and
Family in a Tabloid World, Lynne describes how Lutfi worked his way into her daughter's life and tried to cut her off from her loved ones.
She writes, "She (Britney) was sad, floundering, ripe for a predator to come along. Britney was open to this man who rode in on a white horse.
"Within a month of meeting, Sam was in complete control of her life.
He appointed himself as her gate-keeper, and there was no one he wanted to keep the gate closed to more than Britney's family."
Lynne goes on to tell how Lutfi claimed Britney would commit suicide if they tried to sack him, threatening, "If you try to get rid of me, she'll be dead and I'll p**s on her grave."
Britney was put under her father Jamie's conservatorship after her personal troubles, and has since regained her health and access to her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James.
Lutfi's restraining order came to an end this summer (08) after
Jamie Spears decided against applying for an extension of the ban.
BEYONCE KNOWLES, CARRIE UNDERWOOD, MILEY CYRUS, RIHANNA and MARIAH CAREY formed the ultimate girl power group to perform at the Fashion Rocks concert in New York on Friday night (05Sep08). All wearing matching Stand Up To Cancer T-shirts, a total of 13 stars took to the stage.
The video of the all-girl sing-along, which also featured Fergie, Leona Lewis and Ashanti, was made available as a download via iTunes immediately after the uplifting performance.
LYNNE SPEARS' heart "broke into a million pieces" as she watched her daughter BRITNEY's breakdown on live TV. Britney Spears suffered a public meltdown in January (08) when she was involved in a three-hour stand-off with police after refusing to hand back her son Jayden James to ex-husband Kevin Federline following a scheduled visit.
The Toxic hitmaker's mum - who at the time was estranged from Britney - saw the drama unfold on TV, and admits the events left her emotionally pained.
Describing the incident in her forthcoming book Through The Storm - A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World, Lynne writes, "It was so shocking, so disturbing to see that girl with such despondency in her eyes - it broke my heart in a million pieces."
She adds, "(Britney) refused to speak to me, and our estrangement lasted an excruciating seven months."
The star has since rebuilt her life under the close watch of her father Jamie Spears, who was handed control of Britney's estate after she was hospitalised for a psychiatric evaluation in a second incident at the end of January (08).

SoBe Entertainment presents The Universal Cure, the new album from Jah Cure featuring Flo-rida and Keisha Cole out on November 18, 2008!
Siccaturie Alcock, P/K/A Jah Cure, is the new “High Priest of Reggae.” From the age of 3, music reverberated through his small frame and hypnotized the souls of all those who listened to his music.
Jah Cure’s new album, “THE UNIVERSAL CURE,” his first recorded album since his release from prison, is scheduled to be shipped worldwide in November, 2008. The first single off that album, “Hot Long Time,” featuring Flo-Rida, Mavado and Jr. Reid, was recently released in the Caribbean. This collaboration is the first of many for Cure. The album contains collaborations with several artists, crossing the reggae, hip-hop, Latin, and R&B genres. Another single, “Mr. Jailer,” will be released from “The Universal Cure” album in the U.S. and Europe in September, 2008. Another track from the album, “Journey,” is also on the reggae compilation album, Jouney Riddims, now available worldwide on iTunes.
Cure was already on his way to becoming an international success when his life took a radical turn in 1998. He was stopped and arrested late one night in Montego Bay and charged with crimes, all of which he denied. He has maintained his innocence to this day all through his arrest, trial and incarceration. A non-jury trial was convened, where Cure’s defense lawyer based his case on “Identification vs. Recognition” case law. Unfortunately, based on one victim’s claim that he sounded like one of the perpetrators, Cure was sentenced in 1999 to 15 years in prison.
After serving eight years in jail, Cure was released from prison on July 28, 2007. His goal now is to spread love and to promote peace and healing, universally through his music. He believes his incarceration was Jah’s way of teaching him humility, kindness, forgiveness and love for his fellow man. Consequently, he has forgiven all those who have done him wrong, and all those who have judged him unjustly and unfairly.
Cure was born in Hanover, Jamaica on October 11, 1978. As a young man, he’d sneak out of his bedroom window late at night to visit local dance halls and stage shows. He also attended the annual Reggae Sunsplash in his community, where he saw the great Reggae icons performing: Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Burning Spear, Beres Hammond, Marcia Griffith, Garnett Silk, Yami Bolo, Jacob Miller and Black Uhuru. By the age of 11, he made the decision to become a part of that elite group -- becoming a reggae star and an icon was his dream and his sole mission. Initially using the name “Little Melody,” Siccaturie began his musical onslaught on the public. He soon became the talk of Jamaica and was well on his way to success. His voice started to leave an indelible impression in the streets, and at the age of 15, he moved to Kingston, where he met Capleton, Sizzla and Jah Mason. Little Melody was about to fulfill his dream.
Capleton, the world renowned Jamaican artist, and the David House Crew later bestowed on Siccaturie the name “Jah Cure” primarily because of the vast amount of herb he smoked -- a daily custom of his Rastafarian religion. The symbolism was obvious -- the singer looked young and healthy and he was “well preserved,” as in “WELL CURED,” using herb for medicinal purposes. It was at this time that Cure became enlightened spiritually and his belief in living naturally became heightened.
Jamaican music icon Beres Hammond took Cure under his wing and began mentoring him in the studio and producing him. In 1998 Cure performed on a European tour and visited several Caribbean Islands with Hammond and the Harmony House Family. Cure created several cranking melancholic, compelling melodies which brought tears to the eyes of his listeners, without many of them even understanding the words. Sadly, that musical education would be suddenly and unexpectedly interrupted by Cure’s arrest and in incarceration.
While in jail, Cure recorded and released several records, many of which topped the charts as # 1 singles. The two songs, “Jamaica,” produced by Danger Zone Productions and “Longing For,” produced by Don Carleon, both hit # 1 on the Jamaican charts and were international hits. His first album, “FREE JAH’S CURE,” was recorded in jail and later released in 2001, one year after his incarceration. It is a project that has been lyrically compared to Bob Marley’s “EXODUS.” On the album, Cure gives thanks for life while spreading love through his music.
Eventually, in 2003, Hammond produced Cure’s second album, “GHETTO LIFE,” which featured the single “Divide and Rule,” a duet with Sizzla, voted the best song of that year. His international recognition was then and forever born.
Cure recently concluded his Caribbean and European tours, spreading his message of peace and healing through his music. He is signed to Danger Zone Music Group and SoBe Entertainment. His music is distributed by Universal Music Group/Fontana.
The movie will now have an exclusive limited release in New York and Los Angeles on December 19, 2008 and will expand January 16, 2008!
Director: Rian Johnson Cast:Rachel Weisz, Adrien Brody, Mark Ruffalo, Rinko Kikuchi Synopsis: Academy Award winner® Rachel Weisz (The Constant Gardener), Academy Award® winner Adrien Brody (The Pianist), Mark Ruffalo (Zodiac), and Academy Award® nominee Rinko Kikuchi (Babel) star in The Brothers Bloom, a globe-trotting comedy about the last great adventure of the world’s best con men.
Welcome to the world of The Brothers Bloom, where deception is an art and nothing is as it seems. The brothers have perfected the art of swindling fortunes through years of fraternal teamwork. Now they've decided to take on one last spectacular job—luring a beautiful and eccentric heiress into an elaborate plot that takes them around the world.
For as long as they can remember, the Brothers Bloom have had only each other to depend on. From their childhood in a long series of gloomy foster homes to their highflying lives as international con artists, Stephen (Mark Ruffalo) and Bloom (Adrien Brody) have shared everything. Stephen brilliantly concocts intricate stories that the brothers live out, but he’s still searching for the perfect con, the one where “everyone gets what they want.” Meanwhile, Bloom yearns for “an unwritten life”—a real adventure, one not dreamed up by his old brother.
Eager to retire, Bloom agrees to take part in one last grand scam. He insinuates himself into the life of Penelope (Rachel Wiesz), a bored, single New Jersey heiress. When a genuine romance begins to blossom between them, he is reluctant to exploit her naiveté, but Penelope has already taken the bait: She impulsively joins Bloom, Stephen and their “associate,” a sexy Japanese explosives expert named Bang Bang (Rinko Kikuchi), on an ocean liner to Greece. Penelope is convinced she’s happened upon the adventure of a lifetime and offers to bankroll a million dollar deal. As the quartet makes their way from Athens to Prague to Mexico to St. Petersburg, Penelope quickly becomes addicted to the illicit thrills. But as Stephen’s elaborate web of deceit pulls tighter, Bloom begins to wonder if his brother has devised the most dangerous con of his life.
Oh mio dio! Evil will be redefined this year by the much anticipated horror film, MOTHER OF TEARS, which arrives on unrated DVD September 23, 2008!
Genius Products and The Weinstein Company introduce another gem under the Dimension Extreme label – the final installment from “The Three Mothers” trilogy by the infamous Italian director Dario Argento.
Set in Rome, Italy, an unassuming American art student accidentally resurrects a wicked witch, Mater Lachrymarum, from her grave and awakens the city to utter turmoil and destruction. In order to restore peace and put an end to this evil power for good, the student must use her own supernatural abilities to save the city from Mater Lachrymarum’s wrath.
MOTHER OF TEARS is one of the most intense films from Argento’s amazing body of work. He brings to it his renowned cinematic style and unique approach to thrill and terror. Argento’s reputation as the “Italian Hitchcock” is no way an exaggeration - the admiration he has earned by great directors such as Brian DePalma and George A. Romero, proves that he not only develops a special beauty in his work but he also brings new meaning and insight to this genre. The Mother of Tears DVD will be available for the suggested retail price of $19.97.
Synopsis: A wave of suicide and crime sweeps over the holy city as witches congregate to pay homage to their reborn queen, Mater Lachrymarum (Mother of Tears), the last of three powerful witches who have been spreading terror and death for centuries. Alone against an army of demons, an art student who seems to have supernatural abilities of her own, is the only person left to prevent the destruction of Rome.
Special Features · The Making Of Mother of Tears
· A Conversation With Legendary Filmmaker Dario Argento
SoBe Entertainment presents CraZee And ConfuZed, the debut album by Stack$ dropping on September 30, 2008, featuring appearances by Li’l Wayne, Fat Joe, Twista, Swizz Beatz and Beenie Man.
“Music is in my soul and shocking the game is my goal. I live and breathe hip-hop each and every day. My game plan is to redefine and expand Rap as an art form.” Respect, a vicious flow and bringing a fresh element to the game is what it’s all about for this 22-year old rapper.
Born Yannique Barker, Stack$ spent his early years in D.C. and Maryland . His story is a sure sign of hip-hop’s ever-expanding appeal from its inner city roots. Stack$ earned his name from a Miami rapper, Brisco, referring to his ill songwriting skills and multi-dimensional personality. He has plenty to talk about using elaborate rhyme schemes with a new kind of story —a young entrepreneur and film director immersed in hip hop, creating and finding his own way. The music business is in his blood – his father managed Sly & the Family Stone, along with Peaches and Herb. He also co-produced “Midnight Train To Georgia” with his partner, Tony Camillo, before he founded and built a successful, global aerospace company, and then later moved the family to Miami . Hip-hop’s far-reaching tentacles had already snagged Stack$, giving him the confidence to go after his dream. He submerged himself in studying the masters — Rakim, Biggie and 2Pac — crafting lyrics in the tradition of the great storytellers. “I rep 305 and Dade County ,” Stack$ says. “A lot of people think I only hang out in South Beach . I rep South Beach and hang out in the hood, at the same time. I spit about partying, sex, true life experiences, and the trials and tribulations of trying to gain acceptance in an industry refusing to change. I rap about the sublime and the ridiculous … from humorous incidents that go down in the hood to the injustices and disparities that occur every day in society.”
“Everyone said I wouldn’t make it in hip hop, but I’m stubborn. I had to prove them all wrong,” says the new voice of Miami — a smooth, resonant and confident voice that strikes a nerve. With hip hop heavyweight producers Swizz Beatz, Pharrell, Steve Morales, and Scott Storch signing on, Stack$ aims to change the rules with his undeniable skills on his debut album, CraZee and ConfuZed. The album, a chronicle of Stack$’ personal experiences, is a mash up of styles, regions and eras. It’s an exercise in organized chaos, which inspired the title. “You can’t give buzz to a new style without paying respect to the people who opened the game for you,” he says.
Featuring an all-star lineup of legends and new sensations, including Lil Wayne, Fat Joe, Twista, The Game, Paul Wall, MJG, 8Ball, Phyllisia, Trick Daddy, Beenie Man, Jah Cure, and Urban Mystic, the chips are piled high. The first track, “Money Ova Here,” is a smooth banger with swagger, featuring Lil’ Wayne . The follow-up single, “Whatcha Lookin’ At?” is an upbeat club-banga produced by multi-platinum producer Swizz Beatz. With this monster track, Swizz introduces the young MC to the game, asking the question "Whatcha Lookin’ At?" directed to all haters.
Stack$ attended two years at USC’s School of Film and Cinematography in California, but set aside filmmaking after he met Scott Storch during a spring break. He shifted his focus from the camera to the mic, his second love. “My life is dedicated to telling stories, whether in songs or in movies, or in any other medium.” He also focused his energy on the business side of the operation, launching SoBe Entertainment with his father and sister, releasing tracks and albums by Brooke Hogan, Lola, Jah Cure, Ce’Cile and Urban Mystic.
From Pops, as he calls his dad, Stack$ learned that hard work ultimately leads to rewards; but it’s not money that motivates him. “Money can be a gift or it can be a curse in this life. Pops taught me that my ‘self worth’ is more important than my ‘net worth.’ My goal in the music business is to gain acceptance throughout the industry. Some people forget that hip-hop has touched everyone on this planet. What I rap about are real life experiences – disappointment, failure, success, drug abuse, sex, partying, financial woes, love, cheating, social, economic, judicial and political chaos – the type of problems we all face in our lives, no matter what our race, religion or culture.”
Stack$ reminds us, “All that should ever matter as a person or as a rapper is that one stays true to oneself and that we are real with each other; sooner or later, ‘real recognizes real.”’
