 | I hereby promise I will be a better person. If hell is anything like watching LITTLE NICKY, I want to avoid it at all costs. Okay, that's a bit extreme, but this film really is a chore, or even a punishment. Conceptually, this could have been a winner but the creators really fall down and show their socks. At the most basic level, this comedy lacks comedy. Oh, sure there is plenty of stupidity but, not enough for redemption.
LITTLE NICKY (Adam Sandler proving that high salaries don't reflect talent) is one of Satan's three sons. Harvey Keitel portrays the leader of the underworld and fortunately, few watched this film so his career could go unscathed. When he threatens putting off retirement for another 10,000 years, Satan's other two sons rebel and leave hell wreaking a havoc of sort in New York. And the unlikely hero Nicky travels to earth to capture his formidable brothers. On his travels, he meets people who are also play roulette with their career. Clint Howard as a cross dresser is absolutely horrific. The finale includes an appearance by Ozzy Osbourne, which is one of the few glimmers of hope. But even he ends up being no more than the punch line to a silly joke.
With a little humor, this film could've at least been passable. But, the few moments that give you a chuckle also fill you with guilt. It's all been done before and much better. The DVD on the other hand is a great document, making the film a workshop of sorts. One hidden feature is the "Infini-Film" concept. With that selected, menus continually appear on screen that offer you behind the scenes, making-of documentaries, filmographies and music videos. The audio and video transfer on the DVD is also great.

This is one of Sandler's best. I was laughing my head off the first time I saw it on TV. That prompted me to buy this one. Well, the plot is centered around Nicky who'a a shy dude that has two mean brothers. But he's a unique guy because he's the son of the Devil. When his father is dying because of his brothers, he needs to go down to earth to retrieve his brothers as that's the only way he can save him. It's funny to see him there because he keeps on dying. He gets hit by trains, busses, etc.. but then just respawns. He is met by a talking dog and they become friends. This movie's about a really "foreign" guy that's got to go on a journey to save his dad. There's a good cast with Adam Sandler, Harvey Keitel, Patricia Arquette, Reese Witherspoon and a brief appearance by John Lovitz. The movie is sacriligious and quite stupid but it still delivered laughs which is always good. |

 | I'm aware that most would say Little Nicky was not that good, or cheesy cheesy cheesy, or stupid, when it's really not. It will still make you laugh. It makes me laugh alot when it's on tv, and yes it's a bit corny, but there is bad corny and funny corny. This is funny corny. I mean come on, the part when the demons are rolling the big big bucket of chiken and the classic 80's hit is playing, "HERE I AM, dada dada da da da da ROCKED YOU LIKE A HURRICANE" lol, It's hilarious. Even though there wasn't a lot of intellect put into it, it's simple, and alot of fun and giggles. And I'm sure any fan of adam sandler and his friends, liked this movie like I do. |

 | Definitely a good comedy, Little Nicky, brings to the screen the story of the devil's youngest son, who travels to Earth in search of his two older brothers who are responsible for his father's ongoing decomposition and eventual death. Things become a bit more complicated since little Nicky is not "all evil..."
Adam Sandler, Harvey Keitel, Reese Witherspoon, and the rest of the cast, have outdone themselves with their performances, which are exceptional to say the least. All the actors, without exceptions, give it their 100% and it really shows! Very well written and very well presented, the movie is without a doubt guaranteed to provide more than just a few laughs.
The setting, the plot, the dialogues, the humor, and the music are all wonderful!
In short, Little Nicky is a movie worth watching and even though it is not quite as good as the Waterboy or the Wedding Singer, it is definitely a keeper! 4½ Stars |

 | If anyone honestly expected much from this film, then you deserve whet you get. While I honestly think the premise, Satan's son comes to earth, is funny, it is an Adam Sandler film and his character look like a freak. Actually, Sandler's appearance in this film is so distracting I think the movie might have actually been better if he had just looked normal.
But there are good aspects of the movie. Great aspects of the movie. I love Harvey Keitel right up to his little horns- he is Lucifer. I could do without Rodney Dangerfield becaise I think he is dumb. Ozzie Osborne is awesome in it and his role is crucial. Kevin Nealon is funny with a breast on his head, Dana Carvey makes a much needed movie appearance Reese Witherspoon looks great after having her kid and best of all, Quentin Tarantino is in this movie and he rocks. Clint Howard, Ron's br other, s also in this, which is great because he cracks me up.
Essentially, the movie is okay. But not for $8.25. Wait two weeks and see in at the cheap theatres! |
