 | Horowitz is the funniest kid I ever saw in a movie and doesn't he remind you of a young Michael Imperioli from the sopranos and who was also Spider from Goodfellas? Anyways Sean Penn is seriously one of our finest actors and to see him as young as he is in this film you can tell he had some talent even in his Jeff Spicoli days. Also standouts are Clancy Brown who plays Viking and picks on everybody but Horowitz rigs a ghetto blaster that blows up in his face so thats a nice touch. Clancy is a menacing actor and really plays those roles well. Remember Hadley in Shawshank the nasty gaurd and right hand man of the warden. That's Clancy Brown and he really makes you despise him but thats great presence and acting because I seen him interviewed and he is a pretty cool and nice guy. There are many other strong performances in this movie as well....too many to mention but if you want to learn about making bombs out of fertilizer or how to swing a golf club at your warden when he tells you that he is gonna put you in solitary for months then watch this film. |

| Bad Boys is a solidly average movie. Average (and often highly predictable) plot, average direction, average photography, and, above all, really average acting. Yep, even Sean. In fact, especially Sean. There's nothing notable at all about him in this, other than he's the lead character. Proof positive that, if you have the inner talent, acting can in fact be honed and improved upon. |

| It is a shame that nowadays when you ask someone if they have seen Bad Boys they automaticaly think of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence because the 1983 Bad Boys is far superior to the later Bad Boys movie.
Set almost entirly inside the claustophobic boy's prison, this movie is one of Penn's best performances, and that is saying alot.
Penn quickly rises throgh the ranks in the prison and overcomes alot of adversity to become the top dog, and soon learns that earned respect is a sweet thing. |
