Tammy was born on December 14, 1976 in Bayonne New Jersey. When she was 10 years old her parents divorced. She has appeared in beauty pageants, lots of commercial and worked as a model since she was really young.
She appeared in her school's productions of plays like The Wizard of Oz (who could tell?!) and The Souund of Music. She got her first major acting role on Guiding Light in 1997. Tammy's dad died when she was still working in that show in 1998.
In 2001 she portrayed Judy Garland in Life with Judy Garland, Me and my Shadows, for which she got an Emmy Award + AFI, Golden Globe and Golden Satellite Nominations.
Then she started working with Beau Bridges and Blythe Danner in We were the Mulvaneys, a character she thinks was really great because "She (Marianne) was so strong. She wanted to cry, but she didn't want anyone to see her cry. She wanted to scream, but she wanted to keep it from her family. She didn't want to hurt her family as badly as she was hurt. So I really looked at her as a strong person. The character that Joyce Carol Oates wrote really kept me from getting depressed and going there. She was one of strength and survival".
In 2002 she shared credits with Jason Lee and Megan Mullally in Stealing Harvard: "It was like, "This is heaven." It was three months of playing something nice and easy, but she does cry so there was a little drama for me."
Tammy performed in a long run on Broadway of the Musical Gypsy opposite Bernadette Peters. In May 2003, she got a Tony Award Nomination. Gypsy closed May 31, 2004
Tammy has 2 brothers. She will be directed in The Good Shepherd by Robert DeNiro and she's now engaged.
