While growing up in Detroit, Michigan, the youngest of three sisters, Veronica Webb became known for her beauty as well as her intelligence at a very early age. Born on the 23rd of February in 1965, she pursued her earlier studies in Detroit and eventually graduated from the Waldorf School in 1983. That same year, Veronica moved to New York City's East Village to pursue a college degree in design. Her modeling career took off shortly thereafter, however, when she was noticed by a makeup artist while shopping in a houseware boutique.

Veronica's modeling career skyrocketed in New York City at this point and she began to receive recognition as a supermodel. By focusing on other career paths while at the same time traveling the world as a full-time model, she was able to demonstrate to her fans that she is more than just another pretty face. Some of the other jobs that occupied the rest of her spare time included writing, journalism and reporting.

the real deal

When Revlon cosmetics discovered Veronica, it immediately decided to add her to its team of models and spokespersons. She was the perfect candidate for this position -- brains, beauty and an outgoing personality. What made this opportunity even more special for Veronica was that she became the first African-American woman to be offered a contract with a major cosmetics firm.

Her newfound status as a spokesperson and role model allowed her to pursue other projects along the way. Shortly after her recruitment to the Revlon team, Veronica showed the world her caring side by participating in projects dealing with life-threatening causes. She became part of the National Breast Cancer Coalition and also joined the LIFEbeat team, which is an organization that focuses on AIDS awareness campaigns and preventive measures.

her big-screen crawl

Her exposure as a supermodel enabled Veronica to get her feet wet in acting as well. Her first major role on the big screen was in Spike Lee's Jungle Fever, in 1991, and the following year she appeared in Lee's next film, Malcolm X, with Denzel Washington. Since then Veronica has appeared in a wide variety of small roles, in movies such as 1996's Catwalk, 1998's Holy Man, 2000's The Big Tease, and more recently, Zoolander and Someone Like You.

She has also been featured as a journalist in a number of television programs such as Good Morning America, Last Call and Front Page. Currently, Veronica has been pursuing her career as an actress and also has a screenplay in development.
