Childhood and Family:
Zachary Knower was born on July 19, 1966, in Leesburg, Virginia. He is
the son of actress Rosemary Knower. Zachary moved several times as a
child before his family settled in Baltimore, MD. He earned his BA
from Princeton University, and an MFA in Acting from the American
Conservatory Theater.
Zachary is married to Jody Rosen Knower.
Criminal Intent
Career:
Zachary Knower made his television acting debut as Adams in an episode
of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” called
“Closure: Part 2” (2000). He continued to make a guest
appearance in HBO's “The Sopranos” (as Dr. N. Enloe) in the
following year, but then disappeared from the screen for some years
before taking a three episode arc as Scott Stroll on “Law &
Order: Criminal Intent” (2005-2006). He also appeared in other
“Law & Order” franchise, “Law & Order”
(2005) and “Law & Order: Trial by Jury” (2006), where
he guested as Chayim and Greg Lumbard, respectively, as well as in
episodes “Conviction” (2006, as Dr. Charles Senkovich) and
“Without a Trace” (2006, as Justin Ferrara).
Knower made his big screen acting debut as Ted, mattress customer, in
“Gigantic,” an independent comedy film directed and
co-written by Matt Aselton and starring Paul Dano, Zooey Deschanel,
John Goodman, Edward Asner and Jane Alexander. The film premiere at the
Toronto International Film Festival in 2008 and was released in the
United States on April 3, 2009. He next portrayed Carmie in the made
for television movie “Loving Leah” (CBS, 2009), which was
directed by Jeff Bleckner and starred Adam Kaufman and Lauren
Ambrose.
Knower went on to land guest spots in “Lie to Me” (2009),
“Eleventh Hour” (2009, as Tom), “Heroes” (2009,
as Mr. Shaw) and “Grey's Anatomy” (2010, as Nick Kelsey).
He was cast as a teacher in the TV movie “The Bling Ring”
(Lifetime, 2011), which was directed by Michael Lembeck and starred
Jennifer Grey, Austin Butler and Yin Chang.
Apart from his television and film credits, Knower has acted in various regional theaters and Off-Broadway.
